Unforgettable Memories

Claveria is a 1st class municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. Based on the great-circle distance (the shortest distance between two points over the surface of the Earth), the cities closest to Claveria are Cagayan de Oro, Gingoog, El Salvador, Malaybalay, Butuan, and Valencia. The nearest municipalities are Malitbog, Villanueva, Jasaan, Tagoloan, Balingasag, and Lagonglong. Its distance from the national capital is 786.94 kilometers. The Municipality of Claveria is known for a lot of things and one of it is: its majestic mountain ranges, a great place for trekkers to hike and see the country side while taking in the fresh air and scenic view. Claveria also known as one of the coldest municipalities of misamis oriental.

On October 17-18, 2017, we've travel to claveria, misamis oriental with my co- girl scouts and tita's to attend a training on organic farming. It's my first time to be there and thanks to the girl scout organization for letting us experience an amazing and memorable trip. I was amazed to the beautiful scenery of claveria. The tall green pine trees that I've seen along the highway with a combination of the cold and fresh air of claveria. It was a breathtaking scenery. It was already 11 o'clock of the morning when we arrived at the USTP- Claveria. USTP- Claveria is a public institution of tertiary education located in the upland farming community of Claveria. Its God gifts of invigorating natural fresh air, green, tranquil scenes and peaceful environment, far from the hullabaloo of the city. It is a dormitory school, the dormitory of girls was located at the middle while the dormitory of boys was located at the bottom of the school. The orientation was held at convention hall of USTP- Claveria. It is a huge school that full of agricultural landscape. The plants are well-organized and fresh.

After the short orientation, we take our lunch. USTP- Claveria serve us a healthy foods came from their own plantations. They serve us foods like beef steak, pinakbet, lettuce and some pineapple. The people in that place are so friendly and approachable.

At exactly 1pm in the afternoon, the facilitators of the girl scouts give us an activity in the connection of organic farming. We've arranged the plants in the correct way. After the activities, we are commanded to go back to our assigned cluster. The girl scouts organization never failed us.

The best moment that I have in USTP- Claveria is at the night time. Claveria has a mesmerizing view of the night sky. Me and my co-girl scouts decided to do star gazing with the permission of our tita's. It is our first time to experience and feel those cold breeze of air. We are freezing due to the coldness of the place even if we are wearing thick jacket and jogging plants. In the middle of the night, all of us surrendered to the coldness of Claveria. We hurriedly go back to our cluster to continue our sleep.

October 18, 2017, everyone was busy on preparing their selves. Our next destination is at the Madeline Swimming Pools. It was far from USTP- Claveria so we need to travel 1 hours to be in our destination. It is located at the forest part of Claveria. Madeline Swimming Pools has a crystal clear water from the peak of the mountain. The water is too cold to handle but we need to endure the coldness of Madeline in order to finish our activities. We are born as a girl scouts so whatever challenge that is given to us, we would overcome it successfully. You can't swim in Madeline if you are wearing cotton shirt. You should wear the proper swimming attire. They are also strict in terms of cleanliness. There are some foods that you couldn't bring inside the pool. It was fun making memories with your co-girl scouts.

If there is a beginning, there would be an end. Our activities on Claveria was already done. Before, we are busy on preparing our things to bring in Claveria but now, we are busy on preparing ourselves to go home. It's hard to say goodbye to the people whom you met and attached with. But God has a plan, when we are traveling to go home. Our driver decided to take the other ways because our tita's wanted to roam around the Claveria. On our way home, we could passed the flower plantations of Claveria. There are different kinds of flowers with different colors. The flowers became the most beautiful creation on my eyes because of the place where it is planted. And now, we could witness the mountains at the small distance from it. There are many tall mountains but you could only see a few of it because of a thick fogs covering the mountains.

After a few minutes of traveling, we already reach our final destination, the flight 387 shrine. Cebu Pacific Flight 387 was a domestic Cebu Pacific flight from Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City on Mindanao. On 2 February 1998, the 31-year-old McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 crashed on the slopes of Mount Sumaga. Flight 387 Shrine is in the border of Claveria and Gingoog City, so in some websites it’s described as being located in Claveria. A monument dedicated to the passengers and crew of Cebu Pacific Air Flight 387, who died when the plane crashed in Mt. Sumagaya on February 2, 1998. It is the 2nd worst air disaster in the Philippines. The monument is located in Pryce Gardens Memorial (Oro Gardens). The shrine is a symbolic site where rescuers who retrieved unidentified body parts dumped body bags belongings from the crash site in the middle of Mount Sumagaya, about 6,000 feet above sea level.

Our journey wouldn't end. Life would take us in the farthest place to let us witness the God creation. We had a different destination but destiny would let us met even in a short period of time. I am so thankful to the people who are behind those successful trip that we have. To our tita's who've chosen me to be part of those memories. Being part of the girl scouts was a blessings. The experience and memories would last forever. I've realized that we should spent time to see and feel the beautiful creation of God. At least once in a lifetime, you got a chance to appreciate its own beauty.
